'Touchstones' is a moveable sculpture inspired by the coastal landscape and designed to bring a sense of calm and stillness into your living space. It comprises of three Design 1 Holding Stones (see Product Details) and a rectangular base plate also in concrete. (The base plate is for display purposes only and will not contain ashes).
It is an interactive sculpture, inviting you to pick up the stones; hold them, feel their weight, sit with them; for it is as such they 'hold space' for a loved one. When you put them down again the arrangement will change. This sculpture has a Zen-like meditative aesthetic: the stones, ever silent and still can help you find find a place of stillness, silence and grounding during the grieving process.
TOUCHSTONES 1 comprises a SET OF THREE holding stones and a rectangular base plate. Decorative state, Casting Ashes Logo tile and candle is also included as shown in the photo.
TOUCHSTONES 1 is our original version using DESIGN 1 moulds. These are slightly larger and heavier than the slimlined DESIGN 2 version.
Size of Stones: 10 x 6 x 8 cm
Weight of Stone: 430g approx
Concrete is made using locally sourced crushed granit dust to which we add a polymer bonding agent. Cement dye is added to emulate natural tones. The touchstones are waxed and polished at the final part of the process. As you handle them the natural oils from your skin will enhance the patina over time. You can use a quality furniture polish to care for your Touchstones and keep them looking shiny if you choose.
We only require a small amount of ashes for the Touchstone sculpture, and these will be distributed evenly between the three stones. The base plate is for decoration only and will not contain ashes.
Dimension of base plate: 37 x 15 x 2 cm
With the addition of cremation ash the cement aggregate becomes a unique composition - giving each piece its unique character and charm. This may include surface markings such as granular patterns and air bubbles that occur naturally in the process. THerefore please bear in mind that photos shown are for display purposes only. Direct replication is impossible as is tonal colour match as the pigment to cement ratio is not an exact science and may differ slightly.
